Biography
Casey Tucker possesses a Master's degree in Zoology from Miami University of Ohio and is an adjunct college instructor for several colleges and universities in central Ohio. He teaches a variety of different biology courses including introductory-level biology, Ornithology, and a general education course on the Science of Jurassic Park. In the fall of 2020 he was one of two recipients of a part-time faculty teaching award from Otterbein University, in Westerville, Ohio.

Tucker was awarded an Educational Testing Service (ETS) Certificate for Recognition of Excellence, in 2011, for his scores on the Praxis II Biology Content Knowledge test, and in 2016 Tucker was recognized as a STEM Exemplar by the Ohio Academy of Science. The STEM Exemplar initiative honors Ohioans who embody believing in Ohio from a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workforce perspective.
Tucker also has experience teaching college-level undergraduate and graduate lab courses for Miami University including introductory biology, Ornithology, Vertebrate Zoology, and Dinosaur biology for teachers. He was also a graduate teaching assistant for an advanced Ornithology course, as well as a botany field course on the natural history of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland; a graduate-level travel course where students experienced hands-on learning in those provinces exploring topics in botany, zoology, ecology, geology, history, and anthropology. He has also taught courses for several Lifelong Learning and Learning in Retirement programs.
Tucker has worked as a Research Associate for a Museum of Biological Diversity. He was also a research assistant, while at Miami University, where he assisted with a variety of research projects ranging from water quality assessments using molecular identification of Chironomid species, to freeze-tolerance in gray treefrogs, to avian-mediated dispersal of invasive plant species.
He has worked as a public educator for a number of different organizations, including zoos and bird conservation organizations. From 2003-2008 he worked for the National Audubon Society in Ohio as an education specialist, where he gained experience addressing bird conservation issues around Ohio homes and communities, and represented Audubon on two eco-tours to Alaska.
Tucker is an amateur wildlife and natural history photographer whose photos have appeared on various websites, and in several publications including the Ohio newsletter of the National Audubon Society, the 2007 Cincinnati Flower Show edition of "Home Trends" magazine, the "National Wildlife Federation Field Guide to Birds of North America" by Edward S. Brinkley, the “National Geographic Bird Coloration” book by Geoff E. Hill, and the “Stokes’ Field Guide to Birds of North America” by Don and Lillian Stokes.
